Christian Contemporary Music

Starting ‘God Gave Rock and Roll to You’

Posted on February 12, 2024February 13, 2024 by Richard Newton
God Gave Rock and Roll to You: A history of Contemporary Christian Music by Leah Payne. There's a CCM service going on with bright lights on the stage. There's a moder stylized cross in the center of the stage..

What I immediately saw in Payne's approach was a recognition that (1) CCM is a more complex phenomenon than many realize and (2) that it's prime material for a microhistory of Evangelicalism.
