Dr. Richard Newton (University of Alabama) share the story behind his latedst project, Decoding Diaspora, an online humanities dataset that puts social theory and computational tools to work. Newton calls this approach to cultural analytics “data signification.” And in this presentation, he discusses what it begins to tell him about a mysterious family scrapbook.
