Going Off-Script on Critical Comparative Scriptures

Abstract

This essay reviews a year of monthly gatherings called “Off-Script: Scriptures, Scholarship, and our Subfield” as a vivid illustration of what Richard Newton has advanced under the agenda of a critical comparative study of scriptures. It sets out four problematics within this burgeoning subfield and invites colleagues to continue the intellectual conversation.
